Choose a distance
Conversation, concentrated work and a quick coffee ask for different distances. Place the table in response to those activities rather than centring it automatically.
Consider the edge
A rounded corner can help movement in a tight room. A leg in the wrong place can make an otherwise generous table awkward to share. Look at the section and construction, not only the top.
Plan for the untidy day
Power, bags, clearing and cleaning belong in the design. The most useful table is one that can survive normal activity without every object being arranged for a photograph.
